Funded within the framework of financial cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology under the Competitive Sectors Program, the Capacity Building Project for the Proper Transformation of the Creative Economy in Turkey was launched on February 14, 2024, with an official opening ceremony. The project is carried out under the coordination of the Directorate General of Development Agencies, in collaboration with Istanbul Development Agency (İSTKA) and Izmir Development Agency (İZKA).
Creativity is a crucial factor for economic growth and sustainable development on a global scale. Innovation, digital transformation, and societal progress are unimaginable without creativity. Cultural and creative industries lie at the intersection of creativity, innovation, economy, and social well-being.
These industries encompass a wide array of fields, ranging from architecture to music, film to fashion, and visual arts to the gaming industry. In this dynamic competitive environment, both large international corporations and independent artists and creative entrepreneurs who establish micro-enterprises operate actively. Cultural and creative industries act as catalysts for a rapidly growing, innovative, and knowledge-based economy. They are among the fastest-growing sectors globally, providing employment to approximately 50 million people—three times the workforce of the global automotive industry. It is estimated that the economic impact of this sector will triple by 2030, contributing up to ten percent of the global GDP by that time.
