“Civil Society Dialogue Programme between Turkey and the EU” and “Civil Society Support Programme’’

The Civil Society Dialogue Programme between Turkey and the EU aims to promote cooperation, mutual understanding, information exchange, and long-term partnerships among civil society organizations (CSOs) in Turkey and EU member states. Through projects receiving grants and partnerships established under the programme, EU standards and best practices are introduced in Turkey, supporting the country’s alignment with EU legislation (acquis). The programme, financed under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), has been implemented by the Directorate for EU Affairs. It has played a key role in strengthening the participation of civil society in policy-making processes and fostering continuous partnerships and dialogue between CSOs in Turkey and the EU.

Another key initiative led by the Directorate for EU Affairs is the Civil Society Support Programme. This programme complements the Civil Society Dialogue by focusing on capacity building, institutional strengthening, and promoting active citizenship. Together, these programmes have provided comprehensive EU support to civil society, addressing areas such as policy development, advocacy, and institutional cooperation.

The Civil Society Dialogue Programme was implemented over six phases between 2008 and 2022, while the Civil Society Support Programme was carried out in three phases between 2018 and 2022.
